Courtney Barnett @ Riviera Theater [PHOTOS]

Last Thursday, Courtney Barnett returned to Chicago just 3 months after her triumphant Pitchfork Festival appearance, for yet another unforgettable performance. Seeing that her latest record, Tell Me How You Really Feel, is a definite contender for the forthcoming “Album of the Year” lists (and probably at the top of that list for us), this show lived up to the hype. It goes without saying, but there’s simply certain parts of an artist’s live show that get lost in a festival setting. For anyone who attended Pitchfork and wished to see her in a more traditional setting, this show was everything they could have hoped for and then some. Waxahatchee handed opening duties and set me meed perfectly for the night (she even returned during Barnett’s set to perform an Elyse Weinberg cover later in the night). The set featured most tracks off of the latest record, as well asa wide array of fan favorites and a few deep cuts, spanning her entire catalog.
