Converge @ House of Vans [Photos]
This past Saturday brought the final installment of this Summer’s Vans House Parties to the house of Vans in Chicago. And to say it went out with a bang would be a massive, massive understatement. Converge were responsible for curating the event and put together one hell of a night that we’ll remember for a long time. Djunah and Cloud Nothings kicked things off, and there was art displayed all night from Converge frontman Jake Bannon along with Thomas Hooper. Djunah’s deep riffs with melodic tones fit perfectly at the start of the evening, setting the mood just right. Clouds Nothings then put on a signature high-energy punk show that just about blew the roof off the place. Both artists seemed like interesting picks for openers, but proved to be exactly what the Chicago crowd needed. Converge eventually unassumingly took the stage to a warm welcome and wasted no time getting started, by ripping into “A Single Tear” followed by “Dark Horse” and “Aimless Arrow”. The energy never let up all night and this show was 100% the rowdiest I’ve ever seen the House of Vans. It was so incredible to see hardcore legends still on top of their game after so may years, still absolutely killing it. They played just about as good of a set as any Converge fan could hope for, wrapping things up with “Jane Doe” for their encore. It was an amazing way to wrap up the 2019 House Party series and we look forward to seeing what other kind of insane events Vans has in store. Check out photos from the night below.
