Hayley Williams Surprise Releases 17 New Songs

After posting them on her website, Hayley Williams of Paramore has widely released 17 new songs. The tracks span pop, indie-rock, folk, alt-rock, and more, and titles include “Kill Me,” “Glum,” “Negative Self Talk,” and “Discovery Channel”—the latter of which interpolates Bloodhound Gang’s 1999 single “The Bad Touch.” One of the songs, “Mirtazapine,” aired on Nashville public radio station WNXP last week and got its live debut during Bleachers’ set at Newport Folk Festival this past weekend, during which Williams made a surprise appearance.

The 17 new songs are not part of a formal collection, and Williams had previously made them available only to fans who purchased the new “Ego” shade of semi-permanent hair dye from her company Good Dye Young. She’s now self-released them on her new venture Post Atlantic, distributed via Secretly Distribution.

Williams wrote, performed, and recorded her new songs, and they are all produced by Daniel James. Additional contributions come from Brian Robert Jones and Joey Howard, while Jim-E Stack helped work on “True Believer.”
